Antique Scandinavian Baroque Folk Art Carved Pine Dowry Chest / Trunk / Coffer, circa 1780 Sculpture the under-plate with similar decorationA very good antique Scandinavian carved Baroque Folk Art dowry chest, circa 1780. The chest having a gently domed top with a hinged lid having the original 'snipe' hinges, the edge of the lid having carved gadrooning. To the front of the chest there are large and deeply carved geometric devices, to the center is a large hand cut steel lock and hasp. Both sides of the chest having hand forged iron carrying handles within a deeply carved lozenge design
