Description
75 ha parcel in Mazoyères)
lightly spiced black fruit that is actually quite Pomerol-like in style with a touch of fennel and sage towards the finish
Not having tasted it before
opens up a vista of gastronomic potential and belies the 10g/l of sugar added as dosage - nearly double the amount of the most recent vintages
which is not at all typical for the vintage
Lucien Le Moine, Volnay Santenots Vintage:2017 75 ha parcel in Mazoyères)Once again firm reduction dominates the underlying fruit. There is excellent intensity to the tautly muscular, detailed and powerful medium weight flavors that exude a fine minerality onto the lengthy but rather dry finish where the dryness is exacerbated by the abundant gas. Between the reduction and the gas this firmly structured effort is very hard to read and while it may come together that is not a certainty. (89 92?) 2024+
