This particular copy has an interesting provenance
and features lined pages for the front section with alphabetical tabs
What I'm not entirely sure of is the nature of the original being photographed--looks to me like an earlier hand-painted tintype
made for the tourist trade--is very fine
My guess is that it is a mitering tool of some sort
