Android Mobile Application Developer

TechTrend, Inc. is seeking a talented Android Mobile Application Developer with a passion for pushing mobile technologies to the limits. The selected candidate will be building modern applications for the USDA Forest Service. Using a modern technology stack and agile approach, you will have the opportunity to be a part of an innovative team that is transforming IT through technology modernization within the United States Department of Agriculture. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping enhance and modernize how citizens interact with their National Forests. 

Having the ability to succeed in an Agile environment with limited monitoring is a key attribute to being successful in this role. You will contribute to mobile architecture strategy and design. You will need to be versed in mobile app development targeted for Android platform and having knowledge of iOS a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.  

  • Work with outside data sources and APIs.

  • Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.

  • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.

  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience in Android app development and have published at least one original Android app.

  • Proven software development experience and Android skills development.

  • Experience with Android SDK.

  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON.

  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs.

  • Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies.

  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.

  • Experience with GeoLocation and GeoMapping using ESRI SDK will be a plus.
