New Software Prototype is an Important Milestone in USAID Support to Peru

ARLINGTON, Virginia, MAY 3, 2013 — As subcontractor to METI, Inc., on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service (FS) International Programs (IP) Peru Forest Sector Initiative Program, TechTrend assists in providing services for technical management consulting, software development, and implementation. This support is part of an inter-agency agreement for international humanitarian and diplomatic assistance and environmental initiatives to ensure continued operations in over 80 countries abroad. Currently TechTrend is supporting Peru. In particular, TechTrend has had a substantial role in assisting the General Directory for Forestry and Wildlife (DGFFS), under the Ministry of Agriculture of Peru, in officially launching a software prototype of the control module application of Peru’s National Forest and Wildlife Information System (SNIFF – MC). The launch of the prototype marks an important milestone in USAID support to Peru through the USDA FS IP and Chief Information Office (USFS- CIO) for improved transparency and timber chain of custody. The prototype is currently being implemented in Peru’s most complex timber corridor, from harvest in the region of Loreto, to transformation in Ucayali, transportation through Huanuco to Lima, and finally to the port of Callao for export.
The prototype entails a central application and database that will enable the Government of Peru track the origin of harvested trees to verify that they have, in fact, been harvested legally. Moreover, the prototype will equip federal and state officials with critical, timely information to make informed decisions regarding concessionaires, human resource allocations at checkpoints, and warranting administrative actions, as required. With funding from the USAID, the FS has been assisting DGFFS in the business mapping, and planning, and design of the system since 2010. TechTrend has been awarded the WITS 3 contract vehicle. WITS 3 is a comprehensive, solution oriented approach for meeting agency requirements across the government. It is a GWAC in which Verizon is the prime and all WITS contracts are considered subs. L3 also holds a prime position.

Most WITS3 contractors are small business providing both professional services and products. There are also many large manufacturers on WITS 3 such as Cisco, Akamai, Juniper, Polycom etc.

Scope:

  1. Full Suite of professional services from cyber security engineers to Microsoft engineers, cloud engineers, application developers, subject matter experts of all kinds to technicians installing hardware.
  2. Full Service Solutions – TechTrend will be able to make a broad array of fully managed end-to-end solutions available.

September 22, 2014 – TechTrend, Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide systems engineering, network engineering design, information assurance, cybersecurity, implementation support, and project management support to Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Network Services Capabilities Center (NS2).  NS2 is responsible for translating customers’ long-haul network requirements into effective voice, video, and data network solutions; leverages proven and emerging technologies to ensure joint interoperability, assured security and best value; evaluates technical operations; and resolves technical support issues for DoD’s long-haul networks.

TechTrend and its subcontractor, Technica, Inc., will be focused on the ‘Unified Communications as a Service’ project, providing essential support in the DoD-wide push to transition from TDM networks to Everything over IP (EoIP) networks for voice, video, and data services.  The new contract represents a significant accomplishment for TechTrend in the execution of its account strategy for DISA, expanding its service offerings in support of this key customer.

September 15, 2013 – TechTrend has been awarded the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Enterprise Solution for Akamai Dynamic Site Accelerator (DSA) Enterprise Services contract. This multi- year contract requires us to provide products and services to both USDA and non-USDA customers hosted at USDA’s National Information Technology Center (NITC) in Kansas City, MO.
NITC is a centralized data center management operation responsible for the availability and security of information utilized by the department’s more than 100,000 employees to provide vital services. The center provides management services and technology to support the missions of the USDA and its agencies, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), General Services Administration (GSA), and other Government clients.
